The day when Robinson Road became a warzone

24 hours earlier, something bad has happened to Singapore.

We heard something unprecedented has occurred along Robinson road, taxi’s exploding sounds were echoed down the street.

Something is very wrong, we saw soldiers and Terrex Infantry Fighting vehicles (IFV)securing Robinson road !

Dead people and debris everywhere. Seems like certain building has been blown up and we see office items littered along the streets. God knows where else Singapore has been bombed !

Singapore is under attack ! Singapore is at War !

Then we saw Jack Neo’s smiling face, there is a Big Relief. This is his latest movie, and our hotshot director has converted Robinson Road into a warzone !!

We are on the movie set of Jack Neo’s latest movie “From Ah Boys to Men” (新兵正传). The story is about how boys become men in the army.

Dedicated crew and team, makes all the difference, and we witness first hand how everybody pull together to make filming ticks. Actors, carafare, filming and logistics crew, everyone put in their professional contribution.

Daddy is amazed at the minute details, nothing is left to chance. Coincidentally, the bus-shelter poster was advertising another war movie, Sylvester Stallone’s “Expendables 2”.

Our familiar Robinson road was turn upside down, littered with burning Taxis and casualties. Did you know jTeam took three months to secure Robinson Road’s lockdown, negotiating with different statboards and building owners !

We hope reel-life will never become real-life for Robinson road.
Some of us are parents and we have dependents, how will Singapore respond when faced with imminent threats? Will we run or stay?

All the bloggers agree that this was a once in a lifetime experience. Most of us have not been on a film set before, not to mention a fighting warzone !

In case you are interested, 24hours of preparation will only be 3 minutes of reel time !

This video clip offers a sneakpeak of what went on along Robinson Road on 19Aug.

More warzone photos can be found at SengkangBabies Warpage and Daddy is recommending you to read our fellow war correspondents’ field reports :p

July activities

What’s keeping you busy in July?

##The headlines hitting our media are SMRT inquiry, City Harvest Church saga, high profile sexual scandals, Euro 2012 Spain and Olmpics. Fortuately, our kids have less prominent activities.

The kids can scale a TALL artificial Rock wall (not because Spideyman 3D is here).
On 21Jul, Bedok CC will have a Rock climbing event !

–> Spiderman can register here  http://therockschool.sg/trcc/

Maybe kids have been fascinated with Transformer, want your kids to have a go at building a robot? Below photo is from RoboLabs, a company that provides Creative Robotics Training for kids age 6 and up. We definitely need a robo-cleaner to sweep and mop our house.

–> Dr Tony Tan (President) did say we need more R&D scientists.

Blogger Daniel wants some volunteers to #CookForFamily. We cook, we bond, then we blog about our family experience.  Kids place their tummy-faith on Daddy’s French toast! (Photo taken early Sat morning when Daddy is supposed to be snoozing, thus the no-makeover style)

–> If you are interested, join 100 others at Twitter Hashtag #CookForFamily or register here.

If you do not want eggs, maybe Flowers (Gardens by the Bay) can seduce you?

Meanwhile, you can expect Daddy to throw more flowers and mist and landscaping at you 🙂 Read our Gardens power

Last but not least, 2012 Singapore Blog Awards. Daddy look forward to meeting up with more bloggers face to face. We are top ten under Parenting category. The theme is “SuperHeroes“, but do not expect Daddy to wear red underwear outside and take the MRT!

Admist all the bells and whistles, Daddy always believe bloggers have a social responsibility, to bring awareness to issues and the less fortunate.

1. Adam met with a mishap, leaving him handicap, but his mother is picking him up again. Salute! When we complain about our lives, there are always someone less fortunate out there,  whose voices are not even heard. Daddy wish our community will be more inclusive.

2. Hair For Hope. If you wish to donate hair or money for a good cause,
contact Daddy at –> SengkangBabies_Helpdesk

He is still looking for Botak buddies on 28th Jul.

Finally, everyone love Monopoly yes? We got three boxes to giveaway, please wait for our blog on Sunday. No one has gone-to-jail yet since our box is still sealed.

ps.. if Daddy forgets to mention any sponsors or events, please pardon him.
He is not a full time blogger :p

Running with Cold Storage Kids

SengkangBabies sent the whole contingent down to Cold Storage Kid’s Run last month. Thanks to Marina Bay for the sponsorship 🙂

We arrive early and went under the checkpoint. Daddy told kids to pose like winners 🙂
We know it will be crowded later.

Heng family (BPDG) and Tan Family joined us to run around the Padang today Yeah !

The participants today are not only the young ones. Daddy will run with Kang and Yi, and even Mummy will tag team with Boon Xin.

Before the race, Mascots are roaming around to warm the kids up.

Boon Wee and Denver’s age group will get to go first, but they are in different groups.

Batch by batch, the kids Dash down the road when the airhorn is Blasted. This is 1600m category, kids are supposed to pace themselves ooops.

Parents are always eager to see how their kids perform, as they try to identify their little darlings among the crowd.

Wei and Denver have to clear 1,600M each. So Proud of them 🙂

Wei’s result :p

In life, there will always be ups and downs. We only wish our kids will pick themselves up after each fall, and learn from their mistakes.

A lot of parent bloggers were here this morning, but we only bump into Edmund and Sakura.

Daddy accompanied Kang on his 800M jog. Kang is happy to complete his circuit, and got rewarded with a medal 🙂

Yi joined Chloe and Gladys in the next category. That meant another 800M for Daddy.

Yi gets to climb higher for a better view (thanks to Phoebe for the photo)

Did you know that cheerleaders (in this case, HelloStrangers) will be cheering your kids. It helps when Daddy is also struggling to keep pace too keke 🙂

Finally, Xin participates in toddler’s category (they are not the smallest, there is even a Stroller category !!)

Daddy wonder whether Xin can run or not? She covered a whole 200m (out of 800m), before asking for and Mummy “hug hug”!  Maybe 200M is considered impressive for her small legs :p

Running around the Padang provide good eye-candy for the kids. Maybe, it can help them to run faster. We enjoyed ourselves throughly, and the kids get to catchup with their buddies again.

That evening, everyone gets to show off their achievements and medals.

We would like to thanks Marina Bay for inviting us to the run 🙂
For more fun running photos, do pop by SengkangBabies album.
