What can you find at Playful Elves?

ELVES of course :p

Six elves were spotted today, four from our family, and two from CheekieMonkies. We had baked some Chocolates earlier with Party Parlour, and now the kids are restless.

Playful Elves is at West Coast Plaza. When we see Boon Xin jumping so HIGH, we know something is happening here 🙂

Kids busy collecting ammunition balls.

It is advisable for adults to avoid the pit area, as you will be targeted !

Friendly staff at Playful Elves. She must be amused by the Din created by our kids 🙂

Slides never fail to entertain the kids.

The slides at the bouncing castle were no less fun !

If kids need to rest, bring them to Playful Elves’ carpark. The cars should keep them happy 🙂

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ Go West ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
We discover two other things at West Coast Plaza. Doraemon exhibition until 30Dec, and this West Co’z Cafe is supposed to serve very nice Fish Head Curry. We love their noodles and fried rice.
As our hometown is in the North East, West side always seem so far away.
But Playful Elves, and our recent jcube Ice Skating experience, must indicate that the West has become Singapore’s new lifestyle hub. Please visit West Coast park with your family too, fun is guranteed !
ThinkersBox – Learn to Think. Think to Learn
“Learn to Think. Think to Learn”.
ThinkersBox‘s motto sounds profound. Kids’ enrichment classes are very specialised nowadays, you got Language, Arts, Science, Creative, and now Cognitive learning
Boon Kang and Boon Yee were invited to a trial session at ThinkersBox to discover more. According to Collins dictionary, the definition of Cognition (noun) is :
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
the mental act or process by which knowledge is acquired, including perception, intuition, and reasoning

Video : ThinkersBox’s animation showcases the challenges our kids face in school

To quote from ThinkersBox :
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Learning, just like playing a sport, requires us to have the right skills. In the same way, we can train in sports skills, we can improve our learning skills for more effective and successful learning.
ThinkersBox aims to identify a child’s attributes from the early foundation years. We parents know kids learn at different pace.
– What if we can identify our kid’s weak areas earlier?
– What if we can understand our kids’ learning ability better?
– Can we then help them to cope better?
Some kids might suffer from the following symptoms :
– inability to focus during class
– forgetting about yesterday’s lesson
– struggle to differentiate words which sounds or look alike (comprehension)
If your child is facing difficulties coping in school, ThinkersBox’s assessment might allow us to understand better. Through a series of questions, ThinkersBox’s profiling will tell us more about our kids’ attributes. Click for more assessment details.
Daddy tries to recall some of ThinkerBox’s quiz below. Kids are accessed through a series of Q&A, pictorial comparison and sometimes jigsaws.
1.Visual Closure
Visual Closure helps to improve reading ability to ensure whole words are captured effectively, reduces occasions of misreading
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
2.Visual Discrimination

Visual Discrimination builds keen observations skills and attention to details, which will reduce carelessness when copying, writing or transferring answers

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
3.Relational Thinking
Relational Thinking strengthens the ability to link and connect ideas through analysis of patterns, thoughts and words; helps to increase concept understanding
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Some of the quiz requires careful analysis, or elimination of wrong answers, before we can pick the correct answer. It can be challenging for adults too :p

Parents need not worry, this is not those CIA interrogations. Kids actually had fun going through the quiz. They achieve a sense of accomplishment when they get the correct answer.
