N.E.mation! 8 is too Cool !

We pop by N.E.mation!8’s Downtown Picnic at NLB last Sat.

Storyboards line the exhibition area. We are here today to celebrate the animation projects from the Top 10 teams. We get to witness the Fun and Passion which the students have injected into their animation.

Check out last Saturday’s activities on Instagram #Nemation8 and #NE8DowntownPicnic

N.E.mation!8’s theme is “Because you played a part“.
Yes, this is the 8th edition already.

2013 July 15 to 21 – Registration starts
Sep 07 – 100 teams shortlisted from the secondary schools
Sep 14 – Final 10 teams selected
Jan 18 to Feb 15 – Public voting will determine which Team will fly to USA !

During this period, the students had opportunities to visit workshop and studios, to hone their animation and storytelling skills.

Considering that the students pick up everything from scratch, we are amazed at the quality of their animation, and in such a short span of time too.

All the teams should be proud of their efforts !

Daddy would prefer to have more time to find out more about the individual teams and their projects, if not for these three little fellas :p

To be fair, they did enjoy the paper aeroplane, old-time chocolate Animations 🙂

We even got ourselves some cool Instaprints.

By voting for your favourite 3 clips, stand to win attractive prizes.

Bud of Joy, deliciously Organic

[ Review ]

Boon Kang and Boon Yee proudly showing off their handmade organic cupcakes.

Sometime last year, we were invited to Bud of Joy for a fun cupcake making session. Through a powerpoint, kids also learn why non-Organic farming (read pesticide) is harmful for humans.

Families and friends who enjoy organic food might be familiar with the name.

To understand the product, we need to appreciate the passion and investment which goes behind the brand. A tour of the kitchen will definitely help our kids to better understand the efforts behind each piece of cake or pastry.

To quote from Bud of Joy‘s belief :

Food must nourish the body.

Our baked goods are:
Handmade from Scratch
Made from Clean, Filtered Water
Made from Certified Organic Ingredients
Sweetened only with Organic Honey, Organic Blackstrap Molasses or Organic Raw Sugar
Designed for good taste and good health

Remember to read our ingredient labels.
What you see is what you get, nothing more, nothing less.
Isn’t it good to know what you are really eating?

Everyone (Hello Christy and Family) put on their apron and chef’s hat. They were paying close attention to the cupcake process and safety regulations.

Everything from Bud of Joy is made from natural products, our chef show us how to extract red and blue dye from natural ingredients, example beetroot and pea flower.

The colours were then added to the organic butter cream.

Kids are then encourage to draw their own cupcake design. They have to learn how to “squeeze” first 🙂

Once they are confident, they can design their own Happy face (and curly hair too).
Kids help to bake and keep their own handmade cupcakes 🙂

Besides our cupcake class, we got to taste some Organic pastries too.

Hungry kids waiting for our chef to serve us some savory Orange Chiffon cake.
Before this, we have only tasted organic kai-lan or tomatos, never pastries.

The orangy sweet fragrance fills up the whole kitchen, kids were eager to go for a second helping 🙂

How do they like their Organic cookies?

Although kid might not yet appreciate that Organic food is healthier, they do love their cheese cookies.

Jam, pasta, cereal and many other organic products are on display.
