NDP 2017 Preview – New attractions

We attended NDP 2017 Preview last Saturday, and we really miss NDP at the floating platform!

NDP17 will be Singapore’s 52nd Birthday 🙂

The amazing city skyline, the wide landscape which allows Air, Land and even Sea platforms to make an impact. The setting Sun will bring another atmosphere to the bay.

Those Dynamic Defence Display shows really looked and sound more impactful when all SAF and Hometeam hardware turn out in full force!

You will see and hear the usual fighter jets and helicopters 🙂

There are several new features for NDP 17 too. Like Yum Seng, an AI host, singing Military Police.

In addition, there are two Dynamic Defence Shows! Showcasing how SG deals with Terrorism #SGSECURE

2017 is also NS50, there is a Soldier in evey home, we salute the NSF, NSman for keeping Singapore Safe.

Not forgetting Hometeam personal for protecting Singapore day in day out too!

The theme for NDP 2017 is #OneNationTogether In this uncertain times, all Singaporeans must stand together and brave any dangers together.

Do you know that the hashtag (# ) is unique to Singapore’ address system too?

A pity the 300 drones were missing in NDP 2017 Preview, but the Fireworks were astounding 🙂

With friends and family (Cheekiemonkies), it makes our NDP Preview all the more memorable 🙂

Those heading to NDP Preview 2 tomorrow, enjoy the show! Do pop by NDP website www.ndp.org.sg for the show schedues.

-We would like to recommend taking MRT to the site. We were stuck in Marina Square carpark and surrounding roads for up to 90 minutes after the event, massive jam!

-More photos will be added to the blog over the weekend, meanwhile you can see our Facebook album here.

-Catch all our NDP events here. We were fortunate to attend the NDPs through our blog, had never been successful with the tickets balloting

-Tips for photographing Firework here

NDP 2016 at National Stadium

NDP 2016 at National Stadium.
No Red Lions, Flypast, or Big bang fireworks.

However, the best part of the show is watching the kids enjoy themselves.
Singing, Cheering, Reciting the Pledge, Mari Kita (National Anthem Majulah Singapura).

When did they memorised the lyrics (link) for Tomorrow’s Here Today? (I even have problem remembering the tongue-twisting song Title)

Nevermind, kids are showing us Singapore’s future is bright 🙂

Seeing Alethea and Boon Xin enjoying themselves, can I nominate them for the BEST motivators award?

Huge LCD screens all around ensure we never miss any action. Motivators are decked in white to rah-rah the audience and raise the tempo.

We enjoyed all the segments and goosebumps. Nothing like singing favourite Singapore songs together 🙂

Two items are memorable, hand-signing of “Count on Me Singapore!” and Kallang Waves (endless haha).

To be truly successful, Singapore must embrace everyone in the society.

When the Chinook flypast with Singapore flag (look at big LCD ok), sing Majullah Singapura with Gusto!
I want the kids to be proud to be Singaporeans, hope they will not take our Nation’s peace for granted (especially in these uncertain times).

Some folks will get to Pull the Singapore flags up the seats!

2065 Singapore, is that our home in the sky?

Look at the “rolling” multimedia screen below the stage, as children paintings (and aspirations) are projected, the performers form the shape too. Impressive act!

Fireworks seem a distance away (over at Kallang Basin).

Rousing audience, indoor fireworks too! Indoor fireworks feel closer and definitely more impactful! Let us sing patriotic songs together again 🙂

OSIM Sundown Marathon 5km with boys

[ Sponsored ]

For the first time ever, OSIM Sundown Marathon has a 5km category to cater for families.
The organiser hope families will get fit together 🙂

5km is neither short not long. Like any races or challenges, I always encourage kids to look forward to the kilometer marker. 1km, 2km, 3km and you have already crossed the halfway point. A morale booster for the kids.

As long as they manage their pace and not attempts too many sprints in the beginning, everyone should be able to complete their race in comfort 🙂
SengkangBabies sundown

I am the best role model for my kids. I would hesitate if you ask me to attempt 5km in 2014.
I shared my short history of running progress in the earlier OSIM Sundown Marathon post. But I am now game for 10km routes, next up is 18km in the Straits Time Run in Sep 🙂

Video : On a side note, we purposely drop by earlier to catch RSAF in action during 2015 NDP Flypast rehearsals. The “50” formation is so spectacular!

21km posing, maybe too early for the kiddos, but I really hope to inspire them to keep fit.
Osim Sundown Marathon 5km family

Not many races are conducted in the evening, but the crowds did not seem to mind. 5km category starts at 8pm, but it was already 8.20pm when we started running. It was much cooler in the evening, and those who ran in the earlier waves even managed to catch splendid NDP fireworks!

The aircon breeze blowing from MBS does help to cool everyone down 🙂

So proud of the kids, we sprint to the finishing line in the last 30 metres!
We completed our 5km route between 40 to 45mins.

So happy to run the route with Isaac and Chloe from Tan family. Kids chit-chat and try to pace each other throughout, taking their minds off the run.

To celebrate our race, we went supper together at Old Airport Road. Not so healthy haha, but everyone is hungry after their run.
