When we go traveling, it is convenient to stay connected.
It gives us the flexibility to check our emails, Google for resources (Maps Navigation GPS etc) or simply updating our Social Media.
Kids (and sometimes adults) can engage in online games too 🙂
We would like to call home on WeChat or Facetime with family.
But getting Online might not always be straightforward.
You need to identify a suitable telco (telecoms operator), find the booth in airport (example),
and hope he or she will help you Connect and settle the data-plan registration.
I had difficulty getting online in Japan Osaka.
In Japan, 4G sim cards are from auto-dispenser (you can get a lot of things from auto-dispensers in Japan!)
The technology looks cool but the irony is we need a “wifi” in order to register our Data plan.
When you cannot connect Online easily, it is not Cool!
I need a Japanese colleague to help me call the telco hotline and activate my data-plan.
Nearer to home, we visit Malaysia frequently for our drive holidays.
Although we can find a lot of vendors in shopping malls, we still need to spend time to locate telco’s booth, before we can update or topup our plan.
This can be very inconvenient when your whole family is tagging along, or if there is a long queue.
Recently, we used M1’s M Card for our Johor road trip.
M Card is bundled with free 500MB data and it costs only $15.

d) M Card is worth $15, but we get to enjoy $18 worth of value in which I can simply use to subscribe data plan.
e) Each $15 M Card enables us to stay connected while overseas with the Free bundled 500 MB Data. That should be enough for a short trip overseas! It gives you the ease of Googling for anything we need, referring to our maps anytime and most importantly staying connected.
