Documenting our memories with Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600

Since our last Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 post, we have been busy scanning.
Timetables, Lego instructions, and even kids’ art masterpieces.

ScanSnap SV600 is an award winning scanner that scans without direct contact. Newspaper, magazines, photos, and name cards, it can scan anything!

Timetable is useful for kids to plan their own schedule and school materials. Since the older boys have their own smartphones, it might be a good idea to keep a soft-copy timetable for easy reference.

With a soft copy, I can also keep track of their schedule. Are they really attending make-up classes or playing basketball :p

Noticed her art pieces are all A3 sizes? Normal flatbed (for home use) might need to scan the art pieces twice to capture a full picture. ScanSnap SV600 can also scan anything which is up to 30mm thick.

ScanSnap manager offers some basic picture editing tools, example cropping or upright your scanned images.

Do pop by Youtube of Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 to see “VI technology” in action. We understand the “overhead” camera will keep everything in focus during the scanning sweep. Some scanners will only focus on a small section.

Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 would be ideal if it comes with wireless feature like it does with the iX500 πŸ™‚

Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 features

Recently, we got to trial Fujitsu’s ScanSnap SV600.
It is a scanner, but it is unlike normal “flatbeds”.

Installation was straightforward, and we quickly came up with some fun ideas to test our scanner.
Standing at one corner of our table, it actually looks more like a table lamp.
Love the small foot print, as it does not clutter our table.

Two interesting points for me, ScanSnap SV600 uses a mat and the lamps are situated on top.
Anything on the mat (up to A3 size) will be scanned into digital pdf or image file.

Just press one button to start scanning.

One of the features of Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600 is the ability to scan our memorabilia without damaging them. Flatbed scanners might accidentally damage our materials, when we sandwich our books or photos in between.

Or perhaps we are more used to the “warp or misaligned” output of books. You will be glad to know that ScanSnap scanner application allows us to correct the final output.

Some advanced features even allow us to remove “accidental” fingers from scanned image. Pretty nifty.

ScanSnap SV600’s contact-less scan means our photos (and memories) are kept intact.
Museum artifacts and library archives are being scanned safety with this type of scanning technology.

Boon Yee wanted to e-document his stash of soccer cards, perhaps Euro 2016 gave soccer fans some inspirations. We placed the cards on the mat, and just press the SCAN button.

All 6 cards were scanned into our notebook and we can decide to store them as one single file or 6 individual images. We can scan up to 10 cards at one go.

Secretaries will find this feature useful in scanning the tons of namecards πŸ™‚
You can also use ScanSnap application to import the “cards” into your email contact list.

Be creative, there are many fun stuffs which we can explore with the ScanSnap SV600.
We heard MOSH! is using this scanner to scan the sea creatures into their digital aquarium πŸ™‚

Meanwhile, our girl is busy creating her own science Ebook :p
She is scanning her Science Explorer and copying the pdf into our handphone, so she can read anytime anywhere.
