Dine like Royalty @ The King Louis

[ Review ]

The King (no2 Boon Kang) invited the jester, knight, and princess to celebrate his birthday in style in a Castle. Venue is at The King Louis Grill and Bar.

Read on as we have $50 vouchers to share with our readers πŸ™‚

Two features impress us from start to end, the amount of food stacked on HUGH platters, and the medieval castle ambiance. Imagine yourself dining in an old cavern, with Knights in Armour protecting your bacon πŸ™‚

King Boon Kang and his siblings are shouting Awesome, we cannot wait for the majestic banquet to start.

Signature Mushroom ($8.90) and Pumpkin ($7.90) soups.
Everyone prefers the thick creamy Mushroom soup (4/5 points).

We ordered the Queen Victoria platter ($108.50) for 2-3 person. We did not order the 4-5 portion as we heard that “The King Louis” serves hugh portion.

Platter looks impressive, with black pepper beef, BBQ baby ribs, pan fried snapper with wasabi mayo sauce, oven baked prawns with melted Australian cheese, and sauteed scallop with garlic and wine sauce.

Kids love the prawns while adults savour the juicy ribs. The beef does not disappoint, succulent yet not too spicy for kids. At King Louis, the abundant platters always have something for everyone. (scores 4/5)

If Queen looks so appetizing, can you imagine how a King’s Seafood Banquet will be served?
(We did not order as kids might not appreciate an all seafood platter.)

Banana Bacon Bites ($10.50)
As the name suggests, you wrap a bacon around the banana, we are not sure how to describe the texture and bite, but it sure taste heavenly!

Look at the tandalising photo below, no wonder our kids all got a second helping. (Score 4.5/5)

Boon Wee order a Princess Taisie Fish and Chips ($12) from kids’ menu.
He like his batter coated Dory fillet and fries (score 4/5).

When the kids never stop munching, we parents know they are enjoying their food.

While families listen to live music, we can spot Shrek’s Far Far Away Castle across the harbour. We heard you can even spot RWS’ fireworks on weekends.

Teriyaki Chicken salad ($13.80)
Fresh garden salad, grilled chicken breast meat topped with teriyaki sauce and parmesan cheese. After so much meat, we need veggies to balance off (Score 3.5/5)

Platter C ($21.90) is a mini platter aimed to please the kids πŸ™‚
Drumplets, Bacon banana (yes please!), Calamari, prawn twisters and wedges.

Lovely selection, we recommend this platter to kids. (Score 4/5)

At The King Louis, the food not only taste good, and looks spectacular too! When every dish is named after a King, Queen, Princess or Knight, it fits the medieval theme of the restaurant.

We did not know King Louis was hiring mini interns ! Kids tried their hands bartending.

We would like to thanks The King Louis and our friendly PR Danielle for inviting us. Kids enjoyed themselves so much.

If you are planning to drop by over the weekends, please call to RSVP first. We heard family size of up to 20 are not uncommon at King Louis.

Parents Worlds has awarded The King Louis “Best family restaurant award” for 2012 and 2011.

Link up with The King Louis on their social platforms, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or website. King Louis would like to recommend Queen Dessert Cafe Bistro for some gourmet coffee too πŸ™‚

What is your Singapore Favourite Food?

[ Media Invite ]

From now till 21July, Singapore Favourite Food 2013 (SFF) has up to 40 hawker fares housed under one roof. We were invited by Open Rice to stuff ourselves with local fare πŸ™‚

Char Kway Teow, wait for us !

Did you realise that when we talk about “Street food”, we associate them with Malaysia, Thailand, but seldom Singapore’s Hawker Food? Anyway, some of the famous hawker fare are highlighted at this delicious link.

To quote from Singapore Food & Beverage Alliance (the organiser), “This 10 days festival hope to celebrates Singapore’s unique food heritage and pays homage to local culinary heroes.”

Our kids had their own say too, we started with Beancurd for Boon Yee and Boon Xin. Daddy will not insist beancurd is hawker food, but as long as the kids enjoy themselves.

In fact, they were busy seeking fun, instead of enjoying the feast.

Shall we share some food photos from last Sat πŸ™‚

Carrot cake

Hokkien Mee

In between our food, Calvin realised it is not so easy to interview little food critics :p

Pork with Salted egg yolk (everyone say this is a must try)

BBQ Sting ray

Rojak

Cuttlefish

Satay

Yong Tau Foo

This is something new, Stingray Currypuff ! Really good but too spicy for us πŸ™‚

We heard the clayfish in chilli crab sauce is a must try, fortunately our fellow diners got some nice photos to make you shout Yummy! Thank you Miss Tam Chiak, Hui Yan, MakeYourCaloriesCount. Hello to Lisa too πŸ™‚

We end the afternoon with a BIG bowl of ice.

We would like to take this opportunity to thanks Open Rice for the invitation πŸ™‚
