Festive locations to visit with your family this Christmas

Come December every year, and everyone’s got the festive moods.
Orchard Road lightup, Christmas trees everywhere, parties and feasting.

We are sharing our own favourite Christmas venues in this post πŸ™‚
Singapore lies smack on the equator, the high humidity means we are always perspiring :p
That is not going to discourage families from enjoying the festive mood in the month of December.

We have a few personal favourites to recommend, and you guessed it.
If the venue has snow (I mean foam), it will score high on kids’ FUN rating.

1. Gardens by the Bay
The Super trees never disappoint. With their tall structure, add in a few “lightbulbs” and tata instant Christmas Trees πŸ™‚

The highlights are the beautiful illumination from the Italian Luminaries and Spalliera!
They blink like precious stones from miles away and families and friends cannot resist selfies with these beautiful arches.

We always look forward to Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas celebrations, especially the Flower Dome!
Standing inside the dome and looking towards The Flyer, you have Singapore’s magnificent skyline infront of you.

The cool aircon does make us forget that we are in the tropics πŸ™‚

This year, Flower Dome has been transformed into Toyland.
Teddies, Aeroplanes, Toy soldiers line the domes! Plenty of family photos for you and me.

To our kids, USS is one of the happiest place in Singapore.
During the month of December, USS snows hourly!

3. Tanglin Mall
When the kids were smaller, no one did Snow foam better than Tanglin Mall.
Everytime we drove around the corners, Tanglin’s Christmas decoration and snow always look so inviting.

I still remember Tanglin calling their “snow” avalanche”!
When you see the kids covered in foam from toe to head, you will understand why :p

Even parents could not resist joining in the fun. I should bring the kids there one more round before they grow older. (2012 experience –> https://sengkangbabies.com/fun/tanglin-mall-is-snowing)

Tips : Regulars will wear swimwear and even rain coats, do bring a towel and spare clothes.

4. Changi Airport for the StarWars Fans (Dads and Mum)
Changi always has this mega bouncing castle at T3 during year end school holidays.
Families love to pop by Changi Airport for food and shopping, followed by some festive activities.

The Force is strong at Changi this year, with X-wing and Tie fighter parked for the month of December!
Witness Stormtrooper crush the rebels every Sat 4pm.

Besides the traditional bouncing castle, kids can navigate their BB-8 through a circuit too.
There are always so many activities to keep families entertained and fed at Changi Airport.

We really love the huge open space for kids to walk and run.

The MAD Race

[ Media Invite ]

This morning, we participated in the 5km The MAD race (Make a Difference, organised by Touch) at Sentosa.
DCIM103GOPRO

Any day with psi less than 100 is a good day, Olaf greeted us on the beach and she is not melting.

All dressed in yellow, runners and walkers are participating in the MAD Race today, to increase awareness for depression.

Nevermind if we are not the fastest, we try our best.
More importantly, run together and enjoy the day as a family πŸ™‚
20151010 MAD Race4

We have to encourage Boon Xin to keep up, as she still lacks stamina to complete the 5km. Her style is sprint, pant, walk, repeat again haha.

This race has another feature. We need to collect all seven bands to form a rainbow.
20151010 MAD Race

The volunteers were always eager to give her more Hi5, they even gave her extra bands for her efforts πŸ™‚

Remember to have some photo mementos. We seldom explore this side of Sentosa, Palawan Beach.

Sometimes, we stop for peacocks too.

The Mad Race

I shared with the kids MAD race is not for mad people. Some folks suffer from depression and understand very little about treatments and social stigma. Our MAD Race today hopes to make a difference and hopefully raise some awareness about mental health.
