Cycling Pantai Temiang (New Zealand of Malaysia)

Cycling Pantai Temiang highway has always been on my bucket list.

Since we were “nearby” for RHB Lekas Highway bike event, I proposed kakis to ride with me at Pantai Temiang Highway.

Pantai Temiang is also known as “New Zealand” for the scenic rolling hills. Just 7km from Seremban town (θŠ™θ“‰), we drop by after our Lekas Highway bike event.

Do checkout our Lekas video at the end of blog post.

Seremban (Negri Sembilan capital) is only 45km away from Kajang , we had stayed over at Marvelot Hotel.

(fyi Pantai Temiang is 90km from Malacca, 70km from KLCC, or 55km from KLIA)

Pantai Temiang highway route is 10km one way, thus 20km both way. We stopped our van at Seremban Shell, before riding 7km towards Pantai Temiang.

Refer to the Google Map (GPX) below. You will see the round-about before climbing to the first peak.

Once you see the T-junction at the end, just make an u-turn and head back to the round-about.

Locals will normally do a 60 to 80km loop nearby Pantai Temiang.

(Just take note the climbs start even before u reach round about)

Although cycling Pantai Temiang is only a short 20km, you will hit almost 500m elevation!

The slopes start before you reach Pantai Temiang. Enjoy the rolling slopes and greens over the horizon.

Some segments’ gradient can be up to 10%.

I am not exaggerating when I say the intensity is as tough as our RHB Lekas bike event (ok, maybe our Lekas pace was too lepak in the rain).

Beautiful slopes and valleys at Pantai Temiang.
Do see our video for the rolling sights, photos cannot capture the full majestic view.

If you go earlier, you might see more mist covering some segments!

Going downhill can reach 60 kmh easily.

Social media and locals might warn you that cows might cross the highway too! Be alert.

(It would really be New Zealand if I saw goats instead of cows).

Although my heartbeat was regular, I always felt breathless.

Use your smallest chain ring to climb.
Remember to regulate your breath.
Work out those lungs and glutes.

This “Highway” would be hot under the afternoon sun, minimum shades.

The last time I visited Seremban was in Dec 2023 (Road trip blog post)

Happy to visit the slopes again, on two wheels (and with kakis).

Once you can master Pantai Temiang, or any slopes in Malaysia.
Mandai road elevation is no longer so scary :p

After our Pantai Temiang ride, we headed back to Seremban town for our lunch.

Just in time too, as the sky was turning dark again.

There is plenty of good food in Seremban! We settled for noodles and snacks at Yi Poh 姨婆老鼠粉

Delicious and appetising food, perfect for post workout.
We gobbled up all our noodles and egg tarts.

Good food Seremban

Happy and crazy folks (I meant FIT). Glad they follow me to more torture climbs.

After our Lekas ride, we barely slept 3 hours before cycling Pantai Temiang!

After lunch, mount up our van. Heading for Singapore.

Do pop by our night ride experience at RHB Lekas Highway too. It rained throughout our 105km event! But so Memorable!
