Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift

Last December, we volunteered with Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift campaign to deliver Goodies bag with Boys’ Brigade. Volunteers can choose to deliver the goods, or purchase pre-packed bags from NTUC.

More details can be found on BB’s website – http://www.bbshare.sg

Packing has been done beforehand and consolidated at Boys’ Brigade HQ.Β  Interested volunteers just need to indicate their availability online (with car and partners), show up and load the bags into cars.

The Boys ‘ Brigade kids and volunteers will help you load the bags. And these bags are not light!

We got 5 families (beneficiaries) worth of bags to deliver for the morning. You will normally need half a day to complete all deliveries.

Two by two, we took turns to deliver the Goodies Bags.
No1 excused as he had basketball lesson.

Bonus for us, when the same block has more than three recipients.
Aka less running for us πŸ™‚

While doing good, our family had more bonding and interaction opportunities. ζœ‰ι’±ε‡Ίι’± ζœ‰εŠ›ε‡ΊεŠ›, every little effort helps.

Kids take turn to play different roles.
Some are navigator, some carry the bags orΒ  plan for next stop etc.
We got kids who are in charge of beverage too.
Hydration is important.

All these activities sound much better than playing mobile games in their virtual world :p

Volunteering in Singapore
Volunteering in Singapore

This is not the first community outreach event for us. It is a good way to impart empathy for the little ones.

Families might be keen to contribute more to charity with kids. I have list some of our (old and new) volunteering experiences below.

Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift
Touch Meals On wheels (MOW) (Meals delivery)
Comchest Fudai 福蒋 (Goodies delivery)
Willing Hearts (Kitchen help)
Acres (Age 14+, our kids are animal lovers)

We hope to deliver more goodie before and after Chinese New Year too.
Happy volunteering!

Touch Giving Festival 2019

We woke up earlier to participate at Touch Giving Festival 2019. Organised once a year, proceeds from the carnival and charity goes to support Touch beneficiaries.

For the first time, we joined the 4km walk and jog. Countless families walk along Kallang Basin.

There are mini obstacles along the way, and motivation posters.

Runners can choose to support one HOPE initiative. We chose Yellow or Child and Family.

No3 Boon Yee ran with me, while Mommy and no2 walk behind. Boon Xin sprained her ankle and waited for us at the end point.

Scenic waterfront area.

A short 45 min walk and jog. Finally, whole family is back at Singapore Sportshub area.

There are plenty of activities for young and old at the Touch Giving Festival 2019 carnival. Through the sales of coupons (for activities and food), proceeds will go towards helping Touch beneficiaries.

We are famished after the morning exercise.

More importantly, the carnival shares more about how Touch is reaching out to the community. Participants get to experience some of the “inconveniences” too.

Some of us might need emotional or physical support. You may read about another Touch initiative here (blog Meals on Wheels).

Through our small effort and contributions, I hope the kids can learn more about empathy. ζœ‰ι’±ε‡Ίι’± ζœ‰εŠ›ε‡ΊεŠ›!

Each of us can bring a little change and hope for the community.Β Β Β Β

It is always more meaningful when the whole family can contribute to charity together. You may read about our 2018 Touch Giving Family experience here.

Thank you to Touch for the meaningful invite.
