Gardens by the Bay Mid Autumn and Tribal Tempo (Africa)

[ Media Invite ]

We are not in a zoo, but Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) had been run over by African animals 🙂

Tribal Tempo, Flower Dome’s first African-themed flower display, is in town till 30 Oct. This event also coincide with Mid autumn activities around GBTB (ending 18 Sep).

At the entrance, Giraffes and jeop are camouflaged in the safari.

What other animals can you spot 🙂

Flower bed blooming after the spring rain. This is the center piece of Tribal Tempo, we love the colourful carpet of flowers.

Desert is not always dry and cold, there is spring and rain too.

Waterfall at the flowerbed, Simba? We heard the waterfall is inspired by the real one in Northern Cape.

Exotic flowers, all the way from Africa 🙂

“King Protea” on the left is South Africa’s National flower.

No need to know the names, these daisies are absolutely stunning, look at the delicate and pretty petals 🙂

Some caveman scribbings spotted too 🙂

Aloe Vera relatives?

Flowers and decorations from the fringe. These are not the real exhbits but I always find them fascinating (similar to the role of a supporting actor or actress), love at the creepers going up the hydrant.

Many more lions dot the exit of Flower Dome.

Seafood dinner at Majestic Bay Seafood Restaurant, love the fried crispy bass and Kopi (coffee) crab. We heard the Kopi crab is a signature dish.

After dinner, it was time to explore the lanterns around Gardens by the Bay. Do take note mid-autumn festival light up (and lanterns) will end on 18th Sep.
If time permits, do visit “RON ARAD’S 720°” at the meadows too.

Lanterns Big and Small.

Luminious and attractive lighting and lanterns line SuperTree Grove.

Stories from folk tales are animated over huge lanterns, Chang Er and her bunnies 🙂

Wish to see more lanterns, climb up OCBC Skywalk for a top-down view. Garden Rhapsody played 《夜来香》, 《甜蜜蜜》,’Bengawan Solo’, ‘Dayung Sampan’, ‘Sukiyaki’, and ‘Singapura, Oh Singapura’!

Super melodious, and everyone was mesmerised!

Plenty of activities and food to keep everyone happy 🙂
Boon Xin crafted her own rabbit.

As we are FOG (Friends of the Gardens) members, we always enjoy discounts and promotions at Gardens by the Bay. The quarterly Flower Dome change-of-theme is worth the membership fees 🙂

Flower Dome Chinese New Year with Goats

Goats have invaded Flower Dome Chinese New Year!

The rock foundations at Gardens by the Bay seem to have crystallized overnight! Scenic backdrop, family photos will have a bit of Chinese portrait feeling (literally).

Wait till you go down to the valley (Flower Bed), herds of goats are happily munching on the flowers, while others are rock climbing. 栩栩如生! And they are not shy of guests too!

Boon Wee found his own goat 🙂

Gardens by the Bay’s 2015 Chinese New Year theme is “Asian Tales”, and this is the year of the goat(羊).

KumQuat, auspicious couplets add to the festive landscape. Couplets with auspicious idioms were spotted at every corner.

With so many flowers and goats, families were all beaming and soaking in the festive atmosphere, 喜气洋洋!

You might not believe it but everyone in SengkangBabies owns an unique animal. We got Tiger, Rat, Goat, Chicken, Pig and Cow in our home!

No wonder so noisy.

Flowers are in full bloom. Chrysanthemums, Dahlia, Pussy willows and Orchids. There is Cherry blossom too Wow! (has not bloomed yet).

The bright orange yellow pink and red petals really add bountiful and rich colours to the Chinese New Year mood.

Pretty blooms, so colourful and vibrant!

My favourite flower, Dahlia Rural Leah (tounge twisting name)

Playing with Goats, the crazy siblings wanted the goats to kick their butts!

Our colourful outfits added to the photo vibrancy and richness ! The goats really make everyone meh smile 🙂

While Boon Wee is contented with his pet goat, Boon Xin was more pragmatic and tried to smuggle a gold ingot home.

To quote from GBTB “Asian Tales” is the first of six chapters as Gardens by the Bay embarks on a storytelling journey in 2015. This enchanting series of floral displays for the year will draw visitors into the magical world of folklore, legends, fairy tales and nursery rhymes as told through the language of plants.”
