Paddock experience at F1 Singapore Night race

Singapore Night Race rocks! This is Singapore F1’s 7th edition at Marina Bay Circuit, but you can still expect tons of actions and excitement, both on and off the tracks.

Hamilton overtook fellow Mercedes teammate Nico to lead overall with 3 points.
0.007s was the margin between pole and second position!
We shared Nico’s frustration when everyone zoom off, and he had to perform Ctrl-Alt-Del reset on his steering wheel.

The decibel from the engines (and concerts too), the sparks, the adrenalin filled evenings.
We were able to witness all the pumping actions from the comfort of our Paddock suite.

Video : our experience on and off the track

Pit lane walk was the highlight for us. After watching the F1 machines lapping during their practice sessions, we could now witness the mechanics performing their last minute tuning.

Catch the Red Bull, wave an imaginary Flag. The safety car is still stationary, but we know it is a Singapore tradition to deploy the AMG every year 🙂

Mercedes might have the most points (drivers and constructors) but Ferrari is red hot popular with the crowd!

On the left of Paddock building, this could be one of the best spot to catch the machines leave their pits. In the background, fellow racers need to paddle down their gears from 300kmh (sometimes with sensational wheel-lock and smoke) into a tight Turn 1. Feel the Rush 🙂

F1 Singapore Pit Lane Exit

Jennifer Lopez and John Legend entertains on Sunday, while Robbie Williams and Pet Shop Boys on Sat. Internationally renowned chefs will prepare a culinary feast for our eyes and tummy. Ice cream anyone?

Be prepared to queue for caricature or palm reading.

View from the Paddock, Temasek suite. Paddock experience is for the well-heeled with each ticket costing upwards of $8,000! Free flow cuisine and liquor, a chance for business people to network. Some suites are built directly above the pit stops, so yes, you can catch Alonso coming in to change his super-soft tyres.

Although the suites are air conditioned, we still prefer to hear the F1 roar under humid Singapore evening. Watching F1 at Marina Bay Circuit and on TV is different. You can hear the engines around the corners before they zoom by in a Flash!

Just when we thought the top 10 rankings have been settled, Mercedes decide to gatecrash the top 2 positions. AWESOME experience, right to the last seconds!

Perhaps, Daddy should bring the boys on a walkabout next year 🙂

Safra Singapore Bay Run 2014

Safra Singapore Bay Run 2014 debrief :

Seven years old Boon Yee made it! Although our family cross the 5km mark together, Daddy is especially proud of Boon Yee. His hair was never dry after the first km, but quietly displaying his determination, our little man try to pace his brothers.

Earlier in the day, we say Good Morning to Merlion. Our 5km race is at 8am, but the early birds are already pounding the tarmac (21km 5am and 10km 7am).

It feels good to run on a road deprived of cars. Absolute freedom. We heard more than 46,000 serviceman and families have signed up for 2014’s Safra Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon.

Safra mascot, which kids had mistaken for M&M haha!

Does not matter if you are going against traffic, the roads are cordoned off today 🙂

We just walk through Promontory yesterday with Fairprice, read our “Fairprice Walk with U” review 🙂

Halfway-point is at Helix bridge. We refused to let tired legs dampen our mood. Some folks are doing Aerobics with loud music to encourage us to carry on.

Nice try boys, today no chartered services. Actually, it is Daddy who wanted to take a shuttle bus and take photos of us when we reach end-point (lame excuse!)

As we reach the last kilometer, SuperDads and SuperKids are ready to dash 800m 🙂

Counting down.. 700m … 500m

Even Victoria Concert Hall produced melodious chimes to egg the runners to push on (check video below).

Video : Running up and down and keeping the momentum

We clocked 48 minutes to finish our race. It was heartening to see young families trying to cross the finishing line hand in hand 🙂

Poor kids looking tired and worn out, we just need our 100Plus (and maybe tower).

And they are not yet aware that Daddy is SUPER proud of them today! Well done Boys!

Post-running activities. While we catch our breath, kids can enjoy fishing or slide-a-mug. There is a huge bouncing castle too.

How come kids are not tired?

Jumping for Joy, we did not understand what Daddy meant when he say “5km will be the new benchmark” for our future runs?

Daddy has something to say :
You will notice on our Instagram that SengkangBabies are leading an active lifestyle. As our kids love sports, it was a good opportunity for me to pull them along to participate in mass jogging or runs. It is easier to motivate them when we run in groups, rather than individually.

Besides improving our family bonds and a good workout (away from Ipad and computer games), sports is always one of the best way to buildup resilience and increase a child’s confidence.

My boys were initially skeptical about completing their 5km run but they persevere.

Seeing them put in so much effort, I myself am motivated to improve my fitness and join them in more Fun Runs in the future! Do pop by some other sports events on our blog, “Fairprice Walks with U” and “Energizer Night Trail“.
