Millennia Kids Challenge 2016, cycling

[ Media Invite ]

We did not hesitate when we got an invitation to join Millennia Kids Challenge 2016, we had enjoyed our 2015 5km ride experience πŸ™‚

Millennia Kids Challenge 2016 was both fun and sporty, and it offered another opportunity for families to bond through active lifestyle. It helped that the events was organised in our neighbourhood.

Let’s go! 9 km around our neighbourhood. Overall a nice fun cycling gathering, but I would have prefer more marshals (or perhaps closure of one lane).
Some kids struggle up slopes and bridges, and might stray into another lane. It can be hard to manage the group when we are crossing traffic junctions.

Perhaps we can consider PCN (Parks Connector) to Waterway Point and back next season (8km)

Someone had to detour and left us after 6 km :p

Millennia Kids Challenge 2016 allowed families to participate in obstacles challenge (confirm less tiring then Spartans) or go for a 9km cycling route. The “obstacles” include tennis, soccer and Aqua challenges too!

Sengkang Sports complex was filled with enthusiastic families.

Nutritional meals, Sports and tobacco free, these are good starters to keep fit and stay Healthy. I always tell the kids cigarette is super expensive, they can buy a Happy Meal (ok, perhaps fast food not the healthiest too, everything in moderation hee hee )

Punggol Park

Those new to North East area will be confused why there is a Punggol Park in the middle of Hougang. Long before Sengkang and Punggol township were ready, Punggol road was plying from old Punggol to Hougang towards Upper Serangoon road.

That was the period when Punggol End was still filled with Seafood restaurants πŸ™‚

Sengkang is blessed with a lot of Greens, all within a leisurely 15min ride. Do pop by our Neighbourhood Park explorations.

Since our last visit, Punggol Park has some new ammenities, the lake and playground are always popular with families, especially during weekends.

Joggers and cyclists like to run rounds around the lake’s circumference.
But it is still called Punggol Park πŸ™‚

Punggol Park is located between Buangkok, Sengkang and Hougang.

Boon Yee and Boon Xin enjoys the trip most, they were riding pillions !

As our weekends are packed with kids’ curriculum, we really treasure the opportunity to explore the parks. Building our family bonds through a leisurely ride.

Before we head home, kids need to explore the playground first πŸ™‚

Along the way back, we pass by Sengkang Firestation, and some big longkangs (drains). Daddy used to climb down and catch guppies in his younger days, although this might not be recommended now. Flash flood can sweep the strongest swimmers away.

Teach the kids how to cycle
, and your weekends will be packed with exploration trails πŸ™‚
