SengkangBabies were in Hong Kong last September for a 6D5N vacation. Read our itinerary to discover where we have been running around in Hong Kong.
We have so many options to travel from the airport to the city. Be it train, coach or taxis, everything is easily accessible.
If you are holidaying in Hong Kong, we recommend you to get the Optopus card, and Mobile prepaid card. We can use the Optopus card for everything from transport to convenience stores, and top-up can be done at 7-11 stores anywhere.
Along the bus route, we see countless public skyscrappers, very tall and compact. The endless stream of buses, neon signboards in the evening and food food food ! The streets are buzzing with people and activities.
By the time we have our lunch, it was almost 2pm already. Tim Sum (点心) is just next door to our Hotel Shamrock 新乐 🙂
We can even walk 20min to Star Ferry Pier (天星码头), or take a 10 min bus ride.
A ferry ride allows you to see Hong Kong’s skyline on both sides of the harbour.
Ferries offer an alternative to bridge Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀) and HongKong Island across Victoria Harbour (維多利亞港).
Over at Central, we head to Stanley Road to locate our fatty goose leg. The goose leg taste nice, but we thought the shop owners were very rude. We recommend you try your luck with another Goose outlet 🙂
Most of the iconic skyscrappers are on Hong Kong Island, we will share more famous WanChai (湾仔) buildings on Day 2. When night falls, the harbourfront skyline is mesmerising.
We took the MTR from Central back to Jordan. If you think Singapore MRT is packed, wait till you ride Hong Kong’s MTR 🙂
We are impressed with HK’s integrated and seamless transport network, from MTR, to Buses to Ferries and Trams. But if you are lugging a 29″ luggage to airport, please avoid peak hours.
Click for their MTR map below.
Back to our Hotel Shamrock, our room came with two queen size beds and daily breakfast, daily rate SGD300.
1) Accommodation in Hong Kong is not known to be cheap, but we chose a central-location. Tripadvisor review.
2) Food wise, try everything, Food are generally more delectable and expensive than Singapore, one meal is about $6 to $10SGD. You can find a cafe at every corner.
3) At the airport 7-11 store, grab your prepaid sim card.
a) ChinaMobile 60HKD package allows you to stay “online”.
b) You have to dial a number (193 193) to activate the service.
c) Deduct 38HKD to subscribe for the 7days data plan (they come in 1 or 7 days configuration)
