We know Desa Cow Farm offers kids and family an opportunity to feed farm animals.
What we did not know was the nice cool temperature, around 20 to 25 degrees aircon weather!

Look at the pockets of clouds floating across, and the green grassy meadow. This could be a scene out of New Zealand. Sabah? Unbelievable!

One of Sabah’s iconic bridge. Tourists will normally pass this suspension bridge at Tamparuli. Our guide told us the name came from someone who mis-heard “temporary” hee hee. Any Sabahan can verify?

Kids were curious to see cars giving way to each other on the single lane. No traffic lights 🙂

At the other end of the bridge lies a small marketplace. Visitors can buy some local produce or souvenirs.

But walk another 3 min infront and you will catch a glimpse of Mount Kinabalu!
If you are lucky, you can even see Mount KK’s peak and grandeur.

Pineapples anyone? We noticed the folks around this area loves pineapples?

Our friendly guides from Amazing Borneo, Stephanie and Eric 🙂 We got a comfortable 10 seater van to ferry us all over Sabah.

As we near our destination and our ride climb higher, certain sections of the road is covered in fog!

Desa Cow Farm is located at Kundasang, about 2 hours plus drive from KK city.

Climb the rocks to get a better view, and photo op.

Besides enjoying the cool scenery, kids enjoyed feeding milk and grass to the cows, and ice cream for themselves.

We ended up feeding more cows and goats than expected and itinerary was delayed. Nevermind, as long as the kids are enjoying themselves 🙂

Kids disliked the cow’s long yucky tongue, too slimy and sticky haha.

The cows outdoor seem to be enjoying a better (greener) lifestyle.

Kids now understand how milk are extracted and process into ice cream 🙂

At high attitute, the sky is always blue and cloud white. Hundreds of Instagram worthy photos await.

We spend almost two hours at Desa Cow Farm, entry is free. Bottled milk for the cows cost RM1.50, and grass (for goats) RM1.00. We will recommend Desa Cow farm for all animal-loving families.

A lot of adventures await families, and we challenged ourselves with Sabah White water rafting.

We did not know what to expect from White water rafting, I have only seen some videos of canoe and boat getting whacked upside down by torrent, waves and huge boulder!

The ride uphill to the starting point was uneventful. We see some rivers along the way and wonder whether Kiulu is one of them.

Helmet and life vest checked. Sense of anticipating, we see the river, we see the boat 🙂

We saw a lot of overhanging bridge along the way.

Kiulu river’s intensity (difficulty) has been rated Grade 1 and 2. The waves are considered mild.

As kids’ butts are smaller, they tend to slip left and right, I was worried the younger ones would fall overboard. My concerns were not warranted, as my adventurous kids constantly urged the captain to flip the boat!

I joked with the kids that they can grab more rafting with the Navy Divers (boat PT)!

Our lunch break, kids were more interested to play with the puppy.

Kiulu river conquered, one list untick from our Family’s bucket list. Yeah!
For first timers, we will recommend your family go with a river of level 1 and 2 first.
Once kids are more adventurous, go for Level 3 & 4 ! (sample river here and Sabah Pedas)

More details about white water rafting:
– Our White Water Rafting crew is from Riverbug, and booked under Amazing Borneo package
– Our voyage down Kiulu river is 9km, slightly less than 2 hours.
– Adults do most of the paddling as kids just relax.
– Water is slightly cold
– Do wear shoe as the riverbank might have sharp rocks
– No crocodiles along Kiulu river
– The experience downstream is better than Universal Studio’s roller coaster rides 🙂
