FairPrice Walks With U 2014

It is FairPrice Walks With U, but kids must have mistaken it to be Fairprice Runs with U! Together with our friends from Heng Family, the kids were dashing every few 100 metres.

Pretty energetic Saturday morning.

Marina Bay was a sea of Blue today.

Smiles everywhere, from Promontory to Marina Bay Sand to Gardens by the Bay to Marina Barrage.

Plenty of opportunities for us to pose with the landmarks.

Or the buskers and cosplayers.

Hooray, we have reach the top of Marina Barrage after 45 min slow walk.

Yeah, halfway point and felt so happy that we perform a cheerleader jig too.

Video : We love Fairprice Walks with U !

Marvelous blue skies, with cooling wind, and the Sun was not too harsh. Prefect for a family day out πŸ™‚

We always have time to enjoy the lilies and fishes under Art Science Museum.

Xin is not impressed by the sexy samba gals. The drums are too loud πŸ™‚

We did it, nobody complain during our 5km route. Proud of the kids !

Games and more drinks await participants.

After we had our lunch, we went back to Gardens by the Bay’s Children Garden to cool down. Read our previous preview here.

Thank you NTUC for the invitation! Besides a fun day for families to get together, NTUC Fairprice also presented a cheque for $1 million worth of food vouchers for less privileged families.

Parkway East Hospital’s cute interns

[ Media Invite ]

Join us for an exciting educational journey, where children get to dress up and roleplay as Orthopaedic doctors. Your child will experience performing bone surgery in an Operating Theatre setting and learn to bandage knees in an Emergency Room, among other medical activities.

That was Parkway East Hospital “Doctor for a Day”s invitation. How can we reject something so unique!

You know the rest of the story. SengkangBabies (we sent three interns) enjoyed themselves at Parkway East Hospital. Heh, even the baby mannequin is full of smiles πŸ™‚
Children love to be doctors

Every season, “Doctor for a Day” specialise in a certain discipline. Last Month, it was Orthopaedic(bone). But the junior participants will get to learn about various traits of a good doctor and nurse.

The first task is to emphasize the importance of being hygenic. Kids learn how to disinfect and scrub their hands thoroughly. To look professional, everyone is issued uniform, facemask and shower cap.

They “yellow” interns look so adorable!

Besides engaging the kids in edutainment, Parkway East Hospital is also giving back to the community. For every teddy bear purchased, Parkway East Hospital will contribute to a fund which hopes to subsidise the fees for 15 elderly folks to change the kneecap.

Balloons, photography and a few activities are keeping the kids busy at ground level. But the real action is on the fifth floor.
Parkway East Hostpital activities

General Practitioner – kids orientate themselves with the use of the thermometer and stethoscope. Hello, do you know where is your heart?

They learn how to stick a plaster here, and wrap a bandage there.

The setup and poster reminds us of Kidzania (click for our Kidzanina Kuala Lumpur experience), but Parkway East Hospital’s “Doctor for a Day” is more realistic. We are in a real Hospital!

kids roleplaying activities

Feeding the babies, changing the diapers, making them burp, singing a lullaby, and selfie with the “babies”. You can hear bemused parents giggling and laughing outside Nursing room.

– “so cute”
– “aiyoh how come baby upside down”
– “Ah boy Ah girl come, let Daddy/Mummy take one photo”

A hive of activities on the fifth floor corridor, and parents are as excited as the kids.

At the A&E (Accident and Emergency) department, everyone Hands-Up when Doctor ask who wants to SHOCK the patient! They must have pickup the skills (rubbing the plates) from Mediacorp.

1, 2, 3 Clear. Shock!

Kids love the Operating Theater as they get to screw the metal plate onto the patient’s arms (eeeew gloss!). Actually, they need to stablise the limb, so that the bones and muscle tissues can recover faster.

Our patient was involved in a drink-driving accident but why are SengkangBabies so happy with the screwdrivers! Daddy offered a silent prayer for the injured mannequin.

Each batch of interns will go for their X-Ray (graduation photo shoot) and collect their certificates. Daddy and Mummy is definitely in good hands as long as the kids keep their syringe out of sight as we trust Parkway East Hospital’s expertise πŸ™‚

Everyone can keep a magnet of their photos too.

More photo opportunities.

How do we know Sengkangbabies enjoy their internship (Doctor for a Day) at Parkway East Hospital? Boon Kang refused to remove his Hospital gear on the way home!

Thank you Parkway East Hospital for hosting us. Everyone know more about their “Doctors and Nurses” and it was really an entertaining way to learn.
